Reader Review Request
Happy New Year!
First of all, thanks to everyone for buying, supporting and reading Lily in Bloom and One True Place. Thanks to Red Square Agency for providing me with a web site. Also, thanks for the words of encouragement through notes, emails, phone calls and when I bump into you at the grocery store.
Secondly, my publisher, who is growing but still small with a limited advertising budget, has reminded me that self-promotion is key to any success I might have in my late-in-life career/hobby as a writer. This includes tweeting, blogging and other distasteful activities. (You might remember my disastrous experience with Linkedin or navigating the romance site to vote for Lily in Bloom, which, thanks to you, beat out Debbie McComber to win Best Contemporary Romance.)
One way to spread the word beyond my own community is to urge readers who enjoyed Lily or One True Place to post a review on Amazon.com. I’ve done it, so you know it’s easy – especially if you have ordered from them and/or have an amazon password. Go to books, enter Margaret P. Cunningham in the search box, click on a book, click on customer reviews and add your own, which need not be more than a sentence or two. So if you have a few minutes and feel comfortable doing this, according to my publisher, it would really help. Of course if you didn’t like the books, just please keep it to yourself:)
Cruising
The road to the publication of my first novel, Lily in Bloom literally began undercover. Like hordes of future writers balancing flashlights beneath the blankets, I devoured Nancy Drew mysteries as fast as Carolyn Keene could write them, cruising past my bedtime and into the night. It wasn’t long before the tantalizing notion of writing my own stories made its way into my sleep-deprived psyche. (more…)
